2018 Winter Olympic Hopeful
2018 Winter Olympic Hopeful
My name is Aspen Robinson, I am 20 years old and a competitive halfpipe snowboarder from the Lake Tahoe area. Ever since I was a small child I've dreamed of becoming an professional athlete. As I have grown up and become who I am today, that passion and hope still thrives within me.
I taught myself to snowboarding when I was 15 years old and didn't start getting any professional coaching until I was 18. I've worked hard to catch up to my competitors and in two short years I have competed in USSA Revolution Tour events, USASA Open Class Nationals, received an invite to participate in the Project Gold camp at Mammoth and shot a commercial for Jeep of Marin county.
Snowboarding is an expensive sport and like many other athletes I have to raise my own funds to pursue my goal of being on the U.S. Snowboard Team and one day competing in the Olympics. The money I raise goes towards entry fees, training and travel expenses. My winter season runs from November 20 until May 15, so it is fast approaching.
Snowboarding gives me a sense of happiness I don’t find anywhere else. I train everyday for hours on end and people tell me no matter how tired I am I always have a smile on my face. My dream is to compete in the Olympics and show kids it doesn't matter what age you start something - if you believe in yourself and work hard anything is possible. It will go beyond words to describe how thankful I would be if you could help me chase my dream.
